Project Brief

Writer’s Victoria contacted me about a guy who was looking for a writer – his was a unique project. A year or so earlier Chris’ wife had died tragically and unexpectedly. Their son was eighteen months old at the time. Chris wanted his wife and his son’s mother’s story told so when his son was old enough, he would learn all about his mum. Many friends, work colleagues and family were interviewed – a rich, powerful, emotional, gut wrenching, funny and loving narrative was woven from the many anecdotes about Natalie’s life. More laughs than tears – incredibly.

From our very first meeting, you have been an absolute pleasure to work with. Your passion and enthusiasm for this book feels like it has been just as strong as mine. One of the biggest things that I also want to thank you for is the way you conducted the interviews. As you were aware it was always going to be a sensitive issue talking about Natalie with her family and close friends. But during the whole experience you were so thoughtful and compassionate. Everyone that gave me feed back after the interviews commented on how comfortable they felt about sharing their experiences with you. Once again I can’t thank you enough. When this all started I knew that I wanted a detailed book on Nat’s life but you have exceeded all my expectations. It still feels surreal having this book in my hand. Jai unfortunately will not remember his mother but this book is going to give him the best insight to what type of person she was because of your amazing work. I am already talking to family members about getting you to write my grandparents story on how they came out from Greece.
