Out of Olympus

Project Brief

Elise had an idea for George’s 80th birthday. She would have his story told, written up and present him with the book – about his life.

What I understood early in my meeting with Elise was her passion for the project and determination for her father, who was not the type to put himself forward, to be given the opportunity to tell his story. She knew most of it, was aware how fascinating it was, and that George would be delighted to be asked and love telling his story - from his very first memories through to the present day.

How right Elise was.

From the moment of the first interview on July 5th, 2018, to the many phone calls George and I had when he remembered another important anecdote and I might want to ‘put it in the book’, I knew this was going to be one ‘out of the box’.

From the Client

An email from Elise Margaritis in response to reading the first draft from Chapter 1 of Out of Olympus about her father, George.

“Simon, I am beyond words.

The opening of a book I feel is the most crucial element, and the way you weave the apple dichotomy is simply exquisite.

This is exactly what I was dreaming of but wasn’t sure would come to fruition. Thank you, you are incredible.”
